image gallery - building the house

the house building project was undertaken from June 1991 to about April 1992 with some planning and early materials purchases in 1990, although in truth, the building of the house has never really stopped as we are always renewvating, modifying and adding to it.

The house is built with a steel frame and an exterior of wood-grained cement sheet which helps a lot in this bushfire-prine area. We did all of the work ourselves, except for the electrical wiring and essential plumbing. We built the house on weekends and in trhe evenings while both working full time and while David did his PhD. We love our steel-framed house.
